NZ Marketing Association welcomes Duolingo’s Zaria Parvez for social media conference

Duolingo Senior Global Social Media Manager Zaria Parvez is coming to Aotearoa for the NZ Marketing Association’s new social media conference #OnSocial25 on May 27, 2025.

Named by Forbes as “one of the most influential voices in social media marketing”, Parvez has turned Duolingo’s TikTok into a cultural phenomenon. From a sleepy social channel to one of the most-followed brands in the world with over 15 million followers and billions of views, Parvez’s work has redefined what it means to be bold, weird, and wildly effective in the digital age.

Parvez will be sharing the story behind Duolingo’s viral success – from turning the brand’s green owl mascot into a global internet icon, to navigating the chaos of a fake Super Bowl death announcement that sparked a global online frenzy.

A massive win

#OnSocial25 will be Parvez’s first-ever in-person conference in Aotearoa, offering Kiwi marketers a rare chance to learn directly from one of the brightest minds in social media today.

“Zaria’s visit is a massive win for our social media and marketing community here in New Zealand,” says John Miles, CEO at the Marketing Association. “She’s not just running a social media account – she’s shaping the digital and community culture in real time.”

Attendees will join over 300 marketers at Pullman, Auckland, with keynote sessions, real-world case studies, expert-led round tables, and the chance to grab a selfie with Parvez.
