Independent Auckland agency The Business has been appointed media partner for Corona in Aotearoa following a competitive pitch.
The agency has also been awarded the business for low-carb beer, Michelob Ultra New Zealand.
Corona is a global beer brand and has been named the world’s most valuable beer brand by Kantar BrandZ for three consecutive years.
Meanwhile, Michelob Ultra is the Official Beer Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the New
Zealand campaign now live in market.
Competitive and emotional
The Business founder Ben Cochrane says the appointment is a significant milestone for the agency.
“Drinks has always been a category we love. It is competitive, emotional, and full of interesting brands. We’ve been the agency for some of New Zealand’s top wine brands for 17 years, and we’ve represented Jack Daniel’s for 11 years, which is one of the most iconic spirits brands on the planet. But we’ve always wanted a beer brand – so to be trusted with brands of this scale and prestige is a big moment for us. Corona is a global icon. Michelob is another hugely exciting premium brand with real momentum.”
Exciting new chapter
AB InBev NZ marketing manager Fenella Craig says the team was delighted with the calibre of work The Business showcased.
“We were particularly impressed by the strength of the insights presented, as well as the pace the team at TBMG worked at given the tight timeframes. This in particular is a critical component for us, as we need to ensure that planning, delivery, optimisation and reporting consistently meet the standards expected at a global level.”
Hancocks senior brand manager – beer, cider and non-alcoholic John Yoo adds: “We were looking for a partner that could combine strong strategic thinking with the ability to execute at pace, and The Business demonstrated both throughout the process. Their understanding of our brands, the quality of their insights, and their collaborative approach gave us confidence they are the right partner to help accelerate the growth of Corona and Michelob Ultra in New Zealand. We are excited about what we can achieve together.”
