Radio New Zealand’s radio survey may be a week later than the commercial stations’ results, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a competitor for radio glory. RNZ National is number two for weekly audience and takes out the news radio crown once again.
Yesterday, the radio world stopped in its tracks for the release of another round of GFK survey results. Now, we take another look at the numbers by pairing off stations and shows to see who came out on top.

In July this year the record was broken for the longest solar-powered flight at five hours, and now, while not quite so impressive, RadioLive will make national broadcasting history tomorrow afternoon when it produces a three-hour show, powered on solar energy alone.
RadioLive has had a bit of a facelift, sporting a refreshed logo and new brand colouring, ditching the red, black and white look for blue, white and green. A new TVC has been released in conjunction with the rebrand, featuring a compilation of its line up of journalists.

Mike Hosking and Toni Street will be joining Jesse Mulligan as the presenters of Seven Sharp in 2014. To make way for the new pair of faces, current presenter Ali Mau and stand-in presenter Tamati Coffey will accompany Seven Sharp producer Mauricio Olmedo-Perez as they exit the TVNZ offices for the last time on 20 December. Willie Jackson and John Tamihere announced during their show that they will not return to RadioLive for the remainder of 2013. This comes shortly after all advertisers refused to run their ads during the pair’s show.
ANZ, Countdown, Briscoes and Yellow have gone public about withdrawing advertising from RadioLive after an interview by the station’s hosts Willie Jackson and John Tamihere with a caller ‘Amy’ who said she was friends with an alleged victim of the Roastbusters gang.
