Contagion recruits a pair of replacements for Thompson

The departure of former partner Richard Thompson to KPEX earlier this year left a significant gap in the executive team at Contagion, but the agency has now announced a pair of replacements.

“It’s been a long search,” says Contagion managing partner Dean Taylor.

“Richard hasn’t been an easy man to replace. In fact, it’s taken two people to replace him.”

Taylor says Contagion has promoted Suzie Thompson and hired Ryan Jordan to take on the position of joint heads of media.

Prior to taking on this new role, (Suzie) Thompson worked as the channel manager at Contagion for about a year and half and has been with the company since 2012.

Jordan, on the other hand, joins from Ikon in Sydney, where he was based for the last three years (before that, he worked at Starcom in Auckland).

In commenting on their respective appointments, both Thompson and Jordan spoke about the importance of growing importance of Contagion’s integrated model.

And Taylor says the approach is working, with the agency’s media business growing substantially over the last five years as it has picked up the accounts for Tourism New Zealand, LG, Peugeot, Citroen, Coliseum Sports, Energy Online and, more recently, Southern Cross and Harmoney.

Despite the new appointments, Taylor says Contagion has still not selected anyone to take (Richard) Thompson’s place in a partnership capacity. However, he did advise StopPress to “watch this space”.
