McCann Worldgroup retreats to Oz

Four years after McCann Worldgroup New Zealand re-opened its Auckland office, it has more or less pulled the blinds and locked the door. As a result of the consolidation, its clients will now be serviced from the much larger Australian operation.

According to the NBR, nine people were employed, including managing director Greg Eichmann, and the decision to shut up shop came about after a review of the network’s regional operations.

A small office run by group account director Callum Hayes will be maintained for existing clients (which include Coca-Cola and L’oreal).

According to Campaign Brief, Oliver Maisey, who joined as creative director in November 2010 after a stint with BBDO in Dubai is unaffected by the closure as he moved to Sydney to take up the creative director role with the network late last year.
