Advertising agencies form rock bands in search of glorious fame

It’s not always be a pretty sight, but you’ll struggle to pull your eyes and ears away nevertheless. Battle of the Ad Bands 2011 is quickly approaching and if you fancy repeating the success of last year’s winner, TBWA’s ‘Backslash’, you best get registering.

Battle of the Ad Bands 2011 is taking place on Thursday 1 September and band registrations open on Thursday 4 August at 4pm at www.botab.co.nz. There’s only 12 spots up for grabs and registrations close Wednesday 10 August at 5pm, no extensions. You or your boss will have to cough up $250  to register but as the event promoters say, it’s “cheaper than a client lunch and a hell of a lot more boozy”.

Just like last year’s event, this year will see the return of the wildcard song.

New to the fray for this year’s event, bands will be asked to cover a short jingle from one of their clients, or one from the advertising archives.

So tune those guitars, tighten those skins and ignore the feedback as usual.

Last year's winner 'Backslash'
