Melanie Spencer, co-CEO and co founder of creative and media agency, Thompson Spencer, has been shortlisted for Campaign Asia-Pacific’s Women Leading Change Awards.
Spencer proundly stands as the only Australasian recognised in the prestigious CEO of the Year category – a hotly-contested field.
The Women Leading Change Awards are in their ninth year. They honour extraordinary women who are innovative industry leaders and change-makers – breaking barriers, defying stereotypes and challenging the status quo.
2024 has been a huge year for Spencer. She successfully brought together multiple business units under the Thompson Spencer brand, creating a cohesive team of specialists, while also expanding internationally, with a new office and team now on the ground in Australia.
Additionally, Spencer undertook a ground-breaking merge with performance agency Reason. This move has made Thompson Spencer one of the largest independent agencies in New Zealand.
An unwavering commitment to strong leadership
Spencer is widely recognised as a champion of innovation and change in the marketing industry. As well as a staunch commitment to building teams of people who feel supported, challenged and empowered.
Under her leadership, Thompson Spencer has carved out a distinct position. They’ve become a full-funnel, full-noise agency – blending creativity with commercial savvy. Their socially-led, ‘flip the model’ strategy continues to deliver outstanding results for clients time and time again.
Spencer’s shortlist for CEO of the Year reflects her strong belief in the power and impact of an agency that not only stands tall among the industry’s biggest players but often goes beyond.
“It’s such an honor to be shortlisted” says Spencer. “An honour that is amplified even more by being recognised as the only Kiwi or Aussie alongside such incredible international CEOs!
“This year has been extraordinary for the whole team and our clients. And I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
The winner will be announced at the Women Leading Change event in Singapore on May 26.
