What really happens to abandoned shopping carts

They’re pushed around all day long without complaint, occasionally kidnapped and pushed into bodies of water or abandoned in sketchy parts of town. They’re the unrecognised backbone of retail stores – shopping carts.

Coupon company Retail Me Not has played on the image of the sad, neglected shopping cart in an ad which targets online shoppers who abandon cartfuls of goods before making their purchase.

It lists all the reasons a consumer might do this: price pain; the sale didn’t go through; a moral objection to paying shipping costs and more. The solution, of course, can be found through application of its coupons.
