Go Media launches in-bus digital ads across Wellington

Go Media has partnered with Greater Wellington Regional Council to trial a new in-bus digital advertising format.

Displayed on more than 450 buses, the ad covers 1,000+ internal screens throughout the Wellington region.

The new format is being trialled across Metlink buses with a promotion for Hurricanes vs Moana Pasifika clash at Sky Stadium on May 31.

The trial format is the latest addition to Go Media’s national digital out of home offering and marks the beginning of a new phase in transit-based media.

A fresh way to reach commuters

The campaign delivers high-impact, contextually relevant messaging to one of Aotearoa’s most active public transport audiences, with a record 26 million passenger trips taken across the Wellington region’s bus network in 2023/24.

The format can also carry live messaging including emergency information and transport information for commuters.

“This is an exciting new product for us to bring to market – a fresh way to reach commuters in a more dynamic environment,” says Go Media group sales manager Craig Strachan.

“And what better partner to help us trial it than the Hurricanes – a team that’s deeply connected to the region and its people.”

Go Media sponsors both the Hurricanes and Moana Pasifika, making promotion of the upcoming game a natural way to test the new service.

The format could allow advertisers to engage with commuters across targeted routes or entire depots – ensuring strong reach and consistency across the network.

The in-bus screen trial demonstrates the potential for targeted, in-transit engagement and underscores Go Media’s ongoing commitment to innovation and diversification within its national digital network.
