Go Media has partnered with Environment Canterbury to manage advertising across Metro’s public transport network in Christchurch and Timaru.
Its transit network covers Dunedin, Greater Wellington, Manawatū, Wairarapa, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty and now Canterbury, and sits alongside the country’s largest roadside digital billboard network.
Reflects its Canterbury roots
Go Media commercial director Frank Costello says the partnership reinforces the business’s strong Canterbury roots and growing national transit offering.
“As a Christchurch-founded company, we’re incredibly proud to have been selected as Environment Canterbury’s advertising partner for the Metro network.
“Canterbury has always been an important part of Go Media’s story and this partnership represents a significant opportunity for us to continue investing in the region, supporting local organisations and helping connect communities through public transport and advertising.
“Metro plays an important role linking communities across Canterbury, and we look forward to working collaboratively with Environment Canterbury to deliver innovative advertising opportunities that support the network and customer experience,” says Costello.
“The addition of Metro Canterbury further strengthens Go Media’s ability to offer advertisers integrated national campaigns across transit, static and digital out of home inventory across Aotearoa,” he adds.
“Media agencies are increasingly looking for efficiency, scale and simplicity in campaign planning, and this partnership allows us to deliver across an even broader national footprint.
“With the size of our digital billboard network and the breadth of our transit advertising offering, we’re able to deliver truly integrated national campaigns at scale while maintaining strong local market connections.”
Deliver long-term value
Environment Canterbury public transport general manager Stewart Gibbon says the agreement will deliver long-term value for public transport revenue and customers.
“We are confident that the agreement will deliver a positive outcome for public transport private revenue over the next 10 years, and we look forward to collaborating in support of the Metro brand and the needs of our customers.”
In addition to daily commuting, Costello says Metro buses play an increasingly important role in supporting major events across Christchurch through the Event Direct by Metro service.
“With One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha now open and becoming a major focal point for the city, Metro buses will form an important part of the transport and communications mix for major events. Promoting the Event Direct by Metro service will help improve accessibility, reduce congestion and create a better fan experience for people attending events in Christchurch.
“The new Event Direct by Metro service is a fantastic initiative that makes it easier for people to get to and from events at the stadium, while supporting a vibrant, connected and more accessible city,” says Costello.
Go Media has begun working with Environment Canterbury as part of the transition into the new agreement, which commences on June 10.
