Sweetshop NZ welcomes Jesse James McElroy to the roster

The Sweetshop has welcomed Jesse James McElroy to its New Zealand roster.

McElroy is known for his distinctive visual vocabulary, sharp comedic instinct, and an uncanny ability to make ideas impossible to ignore, says The Sweetshop. This makes him a natural fit for the New Zealand market.

Already on The Sweetshop’s Australian roster, McElroy swapped the cutting room for the directors chair in 2015, creating standout work for brands such as McDonald’s, Volkswagen, Kellogg’s, Unilever and Whittaker’s.

His projects have also gained global recognition, taking home wins at Cannes Lions, D&AD, Award and the Webby Awards.

Weaving magic

Ben Dailey, managing director/executive producer, The Sweetshop New Zealand, says: “JJ’s work is all about craft. He is a master at achieving in-camera where others would look to CG, which brings ideas to life in a tangibly satisfying way. He is also an all round good human, we look forward to him weaving his magic in NZ.”

On joing the Sweetshop NZ, McElroy says: “I’m not entirely sure how I ended up on The Sweetshop NZ roster, but I’ve decided not to ask too many questions in case someone realises…. In the meantime, I’m very excited to be here.”

McElroy is now available for commercial, branded and short-form projects across Aotearoa through The Sweetshop.
