Whittaker’s Chocolate Kiwis are back in support of Save the Kiwi
Whittaker’s is bringing back its Chocolate Kiwi this easter to support Save the Kiwi, a charity dedicated to protecting the native bird and its habitats across Aotearoa.
Chief marketing officer Soraya Cottin says Whittaker’s is proud to have been continuously supporting Save the Kiwi for over a decade.
“As a New Zealand family-owned company, it feels like a natural fit for us to partner with Save the Kiwi and we’re pleased to bring our Whittaker’s Chocolate Kiwi back this year,” says Cottin.
Whittaker’s will donate 30c from every Chocolate Kiwi sold to Save the Kiwi to support their kiwi breeding programme. The company expects to donate nearly $40,000 this year alone.
Since the partnership began in 2016, Whittaker’s will have donated close to $500,000 to support their important work in reversing the decline of kiwi.
Long-serving partnership
Save the Kiwi chief executive Michelle Impey says Whittaker’s is one of the charity’s two longest partnerships and its much-loved brand helps to build the profile of this initiative.
“Whittaker’s donations help fund the team working with kiwi across the motu. This work is driving results, allowing kiwi to survive and thrive, and enabling the reintroduction of kiwi in areas where they haven’t been seen in years.
“And, of course, we’ve enjoyed being able to share the stories of some of the kiwi we’ve raised and released with all of the fantastic Whittaker’s Chocolate Lovers who have supported us over the past decade. It’s incredible watching these young kiwi bolster wild populations, especially as this supports kiwi conservation groups on the eastern side of the North Island,” says Impey.
