
MediaWorks welcomes new head of rova
MediaWorks has announced the appointment of Neil Welch as head of rova platform, who joins with extensive international experience spanning content, product, platform strategy and audience growth.
Welch has held leadership positions at some of the world’s most influential digital and media organisations, including Reddit, Meta, LadBible Group and Sky News.
Most recently, he served as content lead for Reddit’s UK and expansion markets, where he led content strategy initiatives focused on user growth and engagement across international markets.
Prior to Reddit, he spent four years at Meta, leading global teams responsible for content experiences across Instagram, Facebook and Threads.
A strong foundation
Welch’s career also includes leadership roles at Sportbible and Bleacher Report, where he developed content strategies and original programming that generated significant audience growth and engagement. He began his career as a journalist with Sky News, providing a strong foundation in storytelling, audience behaviour and content innovation.
MediaWorks group content director Leon Wratt says Neil’s appointment represents a significant investment in the future of rova and the wider MediaWorks digital ecosystem.

Neil said he was excited to join MediaWorks at a time of significant opportunity for digital audio.

Neil recently relocated to Aotearoa with his Kiwi wife and young son and will officially commence his role with MediaWorks on 22 June.
