Effie APAC has unveiled 123 finalists following two intense rounds of judging – with eight New Zealand agencies recognised on the global stage.
The second judging round saw around 110 judges convene in Singapore to assess the merits of each entry. The awards celebrate the region’s most effective marketing communication works that deliver results and excel in strategy and creativity.
“The submissions this year showcase the incredible talent across APAC, from both global and local brands,” says chairperson Lex Bradshaw-Zanger.
“But above all, they highlight the people behind the work. Congratulations to all finalists for meeting the rigorous Effie standards.”
The world’s most successful Popeyes launch
Pitchblack and Hearts & Science‘s ‘Be the First’ campaign for Popeyes was listed under two industry categories: Restaurants and Small Budget – Services.
When the global chain opened its first Australasian restaurant in Auckland, the agencies launched a campaign giving every Kiwi a chance to brag – to be the first Sarah, the first in their office, or the first in their street to try Popeyes Fried Chicken.
As hungry Kiwis lined up to be “the first,” the campaign smashed global records for first-day, first-store sales.
Big ideas, lasting impact
DDB Aotearoa ‘Nothing Compares‘ for Vogel’s bread earned a nomination for the Sustained Success – Products category, while ‘It’s Good to Be the Driver’ for McDonald’s was recognised in the Restaurant category.
Colenso BBDO also made a strong showing, with ‘Leave a Better Taste In Your Mouth’ for Delivereasy shortlisted in Experiential Marketing – Services, and Spark’s ‘The First Gaming Festival You Could Play’ earning a spot in the David vs. Goliath (Traditional) category.
Meanwhile, TBWA\New Zealand and 2degrees were acknowledged in the Positive Change Social Good: Brands – Services category for their ‘Good Tings’ campaign.
Pitchblack Partners’ collaboration with Burger King also earned a nod in the Sustained Success – Services category.
All winners will be announced at the Awards Gala on September 19.
