Remembering Dave Clark, founder of Dave Clark

Dave Clark, founder of the brand and digital product agency Dave Clark, has died.

Clark founded the company in 2001 alongside Andy Brown, Andrew Smith and Jonathan Tillick. Over more than two decades, the founding partners have been building Dave Clark into an agency that works with government, corporate and technology clients across New Zealand, Australia and Asia.

Clark stepped back from day-to-day involvement in the business late last year due to ill health, with leadership responsibilities having already largely transitioned to his co-founders. The company’s leadership and ownership remain unchanged.

Proud legacy

“Dave was immensely proud of the business and the people within it,” says managing director Andy Brown. “He stepped back, knowing the company is stable and well-positioned for the future. That continuity remains firmly in place.”

Clark began his career in design more than 50 years ago and was a respected figure within the industry, known for his craft, curiosity and commitment to developing people.

“Dave cared deeply about the work, but even more about the people,” Brown adds. “His influence is felt not just in what we’ve been building, but in how we work together.”
