Share knobbishness, win Knob Creek
By

The marcomms world has a reputation for knobbish behaviour. Throwing bread rolls at MCs, using middle initials, crashing luxury cars, making up ridiculous job titles, tricking people into buying things with shiny ads … the list goes on. So what better way to celebrate the launch of Knob Creek 9YO and 9YO single barrel bourbon than by asking our dear readers to offer an example of knobbishness (for example, wearing a tight salmon polo shirt and tight salmon pants with a salmon sweater tied around the neck). We’ve got four bottles of the good stuff to give away, so add your thoughts to the comment wall and you could become our Knob of the Week.

Film yourself feeling the burn, get a free pizza
By

Hell Pizza is well-accustomed to gaining media attention with its controversial marketing stunts. But it has taken that to a whole new level with its Pizza Roulette promotion, which has been featured in the New York Times, TIME, Huffington Post and Reddit and also formed the basis of a story about sado-masochistic trends like the cinnamon challenge on CNN. We’ve got ten Pizza Roulette vouchers to give away to anyone foolish/brave enough to give it a go, so email [email protected] if you’re game and we’ll let our robot of randomness decide who gets them. The only prerequisite is that you have to agree to film the process.

Share a slogan, win a hefty L’Oréal hamper
By

‘Just do it’, ‘The best a man can get’, ‘Show us your crack’ … They’re all slogans that have in some way captured our attention, seared themselves into our consciousness and given us a powerful catchphrase to remember a brand by. And this year marks the 40th anniversary of another successful catchphrase, L’Oréal’s ‘Because I’m Worth it’, which was thought up by a 23-year-old copywriter in New York in 1971 “when a new spirit of feminism was in full swing”. We’ve got a hamper containing an assortment of L’Oréal Paris skincare for both men and women, hair care products and cosmetics worth more than $420 to give away to one lucky StopPresser, so add your favourite slogan of all time to the comment wall and the best effort gets the goods.

Talk about the weather, win a Blunt umbrella
By

Christmas is rapidly approaching and we all know what that means: it’s going to rain. So what better way to survive a Kiwi summer than with a Blunt umbrella, the Kiwi invention developed by Greig Brebner that’s designed to stand up to Wellington-esque conditions, won’t poke anyone’s eyes out and has been coveted by the likes of Wired and Men’s Health. We’ve got two of the virtually unbreakable XL numbers in blue valued at $110 to give away to a couple of lucky StopPressers and, because New Zealanders love nothing more than talking about the weather, all you have to do is tell us about an occasion when a bad dose of it ruined something, be it a wedding, a shoot, a bar mitzvah or maybe even a base jump.

Show me the money: the 2011 StopPress/NZ Marketing Salary Survey
By

Back in the day, NZ Marketing magazine ran a salary survey and, given the rampant desire humans seem to have to find out what their peers are paid —and, by extension, whether they’re being paid enough—its inclusion always made it a very popular edition. But, due to a number of factors, it was put out to pasture a few years back. With all that’s happened in the marcomms industry in recent years and the effect that has had on recruitment, we decided it was high time to resurrect the survey and try to find out what you all do, how much you get paid for it, what motivates you, what annoys you, what your goals are and everything inbetween. Obviously we need your support to ensure this once again becomes the most comprehensive view of the New Zealand marcomms job market. So we hope you can spare 5-10 minutes to answer a few questions. All those who complete the survey, which is brought you in association with The Research Agency, will go into the draw to win a collection of booty, including a two-night stay for up to four people at Glen Aros Country Estate in the Hawke’s Bay valued at $2,350, a STORM London watch valued at close to $400 and one of six 1.5 litre Moa Methode magnums. The results of the survey, which closes on November 14, will run in the January/February issue of NZ Marketing. Click here to complete.

Get creative, win lunch for four at Vinnies—COMP CLOSED
By

Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But if you work in advertising, marketing or media, you’ll know that’s not true. It’s lunch that’s at the top of the list. And Vinnies on Jervois Road in Auckland (bookings can be made online here) has referenced that with the launch of a rather enticing Friday lunch deal, where diners can get two courses and a glass of wine for just $45 (those with a meat tooth will be overjoyed to learn the lambshanks are back by popular demand). To celebrate this gastronomic arrival, we’re giving away two meals for four from the new lunch menu, one for the person who comes up with the best fictional slogan to advertise the new menu (add it to the comment wall) and one for the best rough sketch of a creative idea for a print ad (email it to [email protected] with Vinnies in the subject line).
