Garage Project search for new Marketing superstar

Garage Project, the iconic Kiwi brewery known for their unique and beautiful beers, are looking for a marketing superstar. Could this be you?

From humble beginnings to a team of nearly 80 across New Zealand and Australia, Garage Project have skyrocketed through the market and promise plenty of exciting adventures ahead. With a fun-loving, dedicated and hardworking crew who aspire to be leaders, never followers, in their industry, there has never been a better chance to jump on board and kickstart or better your marketing career.

The Garage Project mission

At the core of things, Garage Project want to create exciting and unique beverages and provide mind blowing experiences that go beyond a beer in a glass. Following that, they also want to be loved locally and admired internationally for what they do.

Laura Curtis.

“When people come into the brewery we want to create and nurture loving fans that are excited to be a part of what we do. We want to remain accessible at all times – never exclude, never preach. No rights or wrongs. No beer snobbery or telling people how they should experience the beers,” says Garage Project People and Culture Manager, Laura Curtis.

“We strive to provide the kind of range that will mean that there is something for everyone, at all times, regardless of where they are on their beer journey. If they like lagers – great, we’ve got one. Don’t like hops? Awesome, try this. Not into beer at all? Here’s a sour. We’re not here to dictate what flavours they should enjoy, but to facilitate and guide their exploration of new territories.”

Garage Project have always had a willingness to try something new. It’s a mantra, that combined with a relentlessly curious nature, has helped drive them into new areas and, ultimately, work towards their goal of changing beer forever.

“We’re not the biggest brewery by a long shot, but we are always aiming to be the most interesting and take leadership positions where possible – be it around beer style, the way we serve beer, right through to our sustainability work and R&D efforts to create the next great hop in New Zealand,” says Co-founder Jos Ruffell.

The Role

Is this the best marketing job in New Zealand? It would have to be close. Maybe the budgets are smaller than banks, but the ability to make a difference, and have a lot of fun on the journey, is unrivalled. For the next superstar of Marketing in Australasia, Garage Project is a great place to refine and hone your already impressive skills.

Garage Project have built their brand doing extraordinary creative work and now need someone who can contribute to this journey in partnership with the Founders and brewery team. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate how they have applied their creative skills and judgement towards consistently producing top level work that shifts brands.

Ruffell says this is the perfect job for young creative minds as the brand sits at the perfect intersection of art, culture, music and food.

“This role will put you squarely in the midst of that, dreaming up and driving creative campaigns linked to beers and products that will hopefully blow a few minds and palates along the way.”

The Benefits

The GP team works at a fast pace, across multiple cities and countries. They run an ambitious pipeline of NPD so there is always something new and exciting to work on.

From concept right through to a can in hand, Garage Project own the journey, meaning there’s plenty of scope to engage with the wider team and drive new campaigns across the entire brewery.

“We have a strong culture and love to support our team to grow and develop new skills. We are a proud living wage employer, offer incentives if you’d like to bike to work, and even have a staff equity pool,” says Ruffell.

“Did we also mention the beer? You’ll be issued your own personal flagon with weekly refills on top of being the first to try new releases each week.”
