Who’s it for: Toshiba by Clemenger BBDO Sydney and Yukfoo
Why we like it: It’s pretty tough not to become derivative and cliched with your marketing efforts if you’re a sponsor of the Rugby World Cup. Certain boxes just need to be checked. And we can probably expect to see a number of slow-motion shots of large men in tight uniforms holding up trophies, scoring tries, kissing babies or endorsing various sponsors’ products in the coming months. But Toshiba has created a very cool animated spot to celebrate its relationship with the tournament by using Auckland studio Yukfoo’s 2D character animation and transferring it to a living room. Good soundtrack too. And extra points for the cartoon blood splattering.
