Up for a challenge? Nelson Tasman hosts local competition

Following the success of Nelson Tasman’s ‘We’ve got this’ campaign, which encouraged locals to show off their favourite regional spots on social media, a new adventure challenge is now underway to give locals the chance to win $3000, while continuing to promote Nelson Tasman’s best offerings.

Led by Project Kōkiri, a collaboration between Nelson Regional Development Agency, Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce, Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council and iwi, the campaign aims to motivate citizens to support local, while encouraging domestic tourism.

Designed through the Goosechase scavenger hunt app, the Nelson Tasman Adventure Challenge is made up of 50 activities, spread across the region which participants can complete as part of a team or individually.

Each challenge completed earns an entry into the draw for the main cash prize of $3000, while $5000 worth of spot prizes are also up for grabs.

Campaign project lead, Ali Boswijk, says the challenge is a perfect reminder of how lucky Nelson Tasman locals are to live in such an extraordinary place.

“As this competition is running during the school holidays, it’s the perfect activity for families who want to get out and about.

“But the adventure challenge is designed for explorers of all ages and there are also plenty of ‘mature’ challenges, like wine tasting, craft beer sampling, and local shopping. It’s not just for the locals, either. It’s a great way for visitors to see what the region has to offer.”

Alike to the first phase of the ‘We’ve got this campaign’, the challenge will provide particpants with the opportunity to support local businesses, grow confidence and promote the region.

“Mostly, this is about having fun and giving people a reason to experience our stunning backyard,” says Boswijk.

“It’s a true win-win, and, given all the prizes up for grabs, you could even call it a win-win-win.”
