Twitter turns seven today. The microblogging service originally launched as Twttr (the vowels cost extra) and was designed to keep people in touch using status updates posted on online. Now with around 300 million users, it’s fair to say the social network has found a modicum of success.
To celebrate Twitter has released a video highlighting major moments in its existence including the Arab Spring, numerous elections, world wide sporting events and the reporting of breaking news.
Feeling nostalgiac? Here’s how to download your Twitter archive and see your first tweet:
1. Login to your Twitter account through the website.
2. Go to the settings page.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Request your archive” button.

5. The unzipped folder will act as a self-contained offline website, open index.html to launch the archive.
