Spark and Shine celebrate New Zealand’s unique business edge

The latest chapter in Spark’s ‘Little can be Huge’ campaign has been released, celebrating New Zealand as a place to do business.

The 60-second ad for ‘Business Edge’, by Shine, visits a number of New Zealand business environments, including the Whitestone Cheese factory in Oamaru, Eat My Lunch’s headquarters and The True Honey Co.’s remote hives.

The campaign highlights unique Kiwi qualities that local businesses draw upon to have a little edge, such as perseverance and ingenuity, with the work appearing on digital, billboards, social, radio and television.

As with previous ads for ‘Little can be Huge’—including the unconventional tear-jerking Father’s Day ad and Big Things come in small packages, both by Colenso BBDO—Spark has drawn on emotional storytelling to connect with its audience. Each story examines the huge wins that come from a series of little victories.

At the time, head of brand, communications and experience Sarah Williams told StopPress that the idea of  ‘Little can be huge’ is just as relevant for the hundreds of thousands of businesses and millions of Kiwis it works for every day.

“It’s a way of thinking and working that our people have really got behind, and we’re excited to share it with New Zealand.”

About the most recent work, Spark business communications manager Sally Gordon says this is the first time Spark has delivered a campaign aimed at simultaneously engaging with small, medium, enterprise and government business audiences.

“We are excited to showcase Spark business customers and celebrate how awesome they are, by featuring the passionate people who are involved and how Spark connects these businesses to help them find their edge.”

She says the company hopes Kiwi businesses come away with a sense of pride and the knowledge that Spark is committed to supporting every Kiwi business reach their full potential.

In 2015, Spark appointed Shine as its strategic partner and Colenso BBDO as its above-the-line agency as it looked to evolve the brand.
