oOh! and Auckland Transport unite for Maori Language Week

Auckland Transport and oOh!media have united to bring a slice of Te Reo Māori to the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau in light of Māori Language Week, happening 13–16 September.

The commercial partnership between oOh! and Auckland Transport delivers 1000 public transport infrastructure locations across the Auckland isthmus. Included within this distribution is 170 ultra-high definition digital advertising panels across the region in CBD and suburban areas. These digital advertising spaces will be used, in conjunction with Auckland Transport to support Māori Language Week.

As a public space media organisation, oOh! is uniquely positioned to deliver a consistent stream of topical, timely and important content to communities nationwide; helping to support communities coming together in an effort to support coming together over topics that are important to them.

This most recent partnership highlights the impact Out of Home can have by using these public spaces to amplify New Zealand’s native language while also showcasing a sense of community and connection to Aotearoa.

oOh!media General Manager, Nick Vile says: “In previous years, oOh! has celebrated the week with contextually relevant messages; reflecting on the weather, time of day or location.

“This year, we felt it appropriate to reflect the community and the everyday sayings that are being used by Kiwis right now. We wanted to reflect the ‘mood of the nation’ in a series of sayings reflective of the times.”

Lillian Tahuri, Head of Māori Engagement at Auckland Transport says: “It’s amazing to have the support of oOh!’s digital network.

“Having simple phrases such as ‘Maranga mai!’ (rise and shine!) and ‘Mauria te pono’ (believe in yourself) on display throughout the nation gives Kiwis a nice pick-me-up as well as incorporating Te Reo into our everyday lives.”
