The brain gain – Special’s silver lining in a Covid cloud

Special Group has announced the addition of three senior leadership roles to the account service team.

Callum Walker has been appointed Special’s Lead Business Partner, moving back to New Zealand after three years as Client Services Director at M&C Saatchi Melbourne where he led the Lexus account for Australia.

Walker has over 15 years’ experience in topflight agencies across Australia and New Zealand.

Having started his career at McDonald’s, he has spent the last decade working in Sydney and Melbourne partnering with adidas, Coca-Cola, Virgin Australia and Fiji Airways.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the talented team at Special and play a part in continuing the incredible success Tony and the team have achieved. I’ve only been in the building a couple of weeks, but the ambition and energy is certainly rubbing off.”

Priyanka Patel joined Special as Group Business Director in August, assuming the leadership role for Contact Energy, Silver Fern Farms and the University of Waikato.

Patel is a highly experienced agency account leader, having spent the last decade working in some of Australia’s top agencies The Royals and The Monkeys.

“Even while I was away, I was always keeping an eye on the work coming out of New Zealand and Special was the agency whose work stood out the most. So it’s exciting to be working at what I consider the best agency in the country and helping make the work that’s wowing other expats.”

Emma Richardson also joins Special, having been appointed as Group Business Director.

An experienced Group Business Director who has worked with clients across a huge range of categories both in New Zealand and the UK, and is particularly well-versed in telcos after spending years working on Vodafone, Spark and 2degrees, Richardson is big on collaboration and passionate about building brands with real meaning.

“Special has gone from strength to strength and achieved some amazing things, during what has been an incredibly difficult time for the industry. I’m so excited to be part of such a passionate and talented team.”

Special Group Founder/CEO/CCO Tony Bradbourne says: “One of the small silver linings is the returning ‘brain gain’ of talent that we can attract to Special. This industry is all about talent, and we are very excited to welcome Callum, Pri and Emma to Special.”
