New board member at IMANZ
Independent Media Agencies New Zealand is welcoming Annabelle Wilkinson to its Board of Directors.
Wilkinson is a highly respected figure in the New Zealand media landscape. She joins the board as a representative for Together, succeeding Kris Hadley following his departure last month.
The appointment comes as IMANZ continues to champion the ‘Indie advantage’, highlighting the transparency, local expertise and agility that founder-led agencies bring to the New Zealand market.
A genuine passion for indies
IMANZ board chair Alex Radford notes that Wilkinson’s appointment is a strategic win for the organisation.
“Annabelle brings real depth of experience across Wellington and NZ’s media landscape and a genuine passion for the independent sector.
“Having her at the board table strengthens our geographic representation and our ability to advocate for independents across the country. We’re heading into an important year for IMANZ, and she’s a great addition,” says Radford.
IMANZ CEO Simon Teagle echoes the board’s enthusiasm. “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Annabelle. Her leadership in the Wellington market, in particular, will be an invaluable asset as we continue to strengthen the voice of independent agencies across the country.”
Diversity of thinking
Wilkinson has more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles across both global networks and independent agencies. Her career has been defined by a commitment to driving results through local insight and fostering strong industry connections.
Returning to the independent side of the industry was a natural step for Wilkinson. She cites the “diversity of thinking” inherent in independent agencies as a critical component of the NZ media ecosystem.
“Independent agencies bring different perspectives, challenge the global giants and create competition that ultimately benefits clients,” says Wilkinson.
“The media landscape is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and independent agencies have the unique ability to adapt faster, leading rather than following to build something that is distinctively Kiwi.”
Respectful challenge
Having spent many years navigating the Wellington media market, Wilkinson intends to use her board seat to bridge the gap between independent agencies and both private and public sector clients. She is particularly focused on helping IMANZ members navigate the complexities of working with government entities, ensuring that local agencies are well-positioned for large-scale opportunities.
Wilkinson brings a philosophy of “respectful challenge” to the IMANZ table. She believes that the best decisions for members and partners are born from diverse perspectives and the courage to engage in robust, honest discussions.
“I have learned that you should never shy away from a challenge,” she says. “I look forward to listening to my peers on the board – a group of leaders I have admired for some time – and ensuring that every decision we make is the right one for our members.”
Annabelle’s appointment is effective immediately.
