Ross Goldsack re-joins Y&R as non-executive chairman, Trent Harnett joins Malcolm Phillipps at the head of 2degrees’ marketing table, Leonie Collins leaves her post at Eye and Carolyn Enting joins Mindfood.
Y&R NZ is currently going through a sizable rebrand, with a new logo, a new “global boutique” tagline and a renewed desire to climb back into the upper ad agency echelons. And to help it on the way, experienced ad campaigner Ross Goldsack will be re-joining the agency as non-executive chairman after retiring in 2008.
“I’m thrilled he’s agreed to join us,” says Ramage. “The team is really looking forward to working with Ross. We believe he can bring a lot to the agency. I’m personally looking forward to re-activating our successful partnership.”
Goldsack says that while he might have left the agency, he never left the business and he believes he still has an enormous amount to offer, especially because of the perspective he’s gained from sitting outside it for the past couple of years.
Goldsack Harris merged with Y&R in 1999 and Goldsack worked with Y&R Wellington until 2002, when he was appointed CEO. He became executive chairman in 2005 and was with Y&R Auckland until 2008.
Since then he has worked as an executive chairman with Yacht Lifeline, which provides remote emergency medical services to the global super yacht industry, and he also owns Crossbarn, a company that invests in business start-ups and growing businesses.

Goldsack’s appointment is effective immediately, but he will officially take on the role upon his return from overseas in mid June.
He started in 2008, most recently managing the Prepay Market segment, and he brings over ten years marketing and advertising experience to the job through previous roles with telecommunications companies in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

“We were looking for someone who could work across the range of Mindfood’s media platforms; that special individual who will add expertise to our team and is also media savvy,” says editor-in-chief Michael McHugh. “I look forward to working alongside Carolyn in this new role.”
“Leaving The Dominion Post after 11 years was a big decision,” says Enting. “I’ve been a fan of Mindfood since it launched four years ago and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work for my favourite magazine.”
Enting will begin her new role mid June.
