Taking the reins
This week Omnicom Media Group announced the appointment of Peter Horgan as its new CEO for Australia and New Zealand.
Horgan, who takes on the role from Leigh Terry after he stepped down, was most recently CEO of OMD Australia and will report to Cheuk Chiang, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Asia Pacific.
The promotion will see Horgan take charge of all of Omnicom Media Group’s assets in Australia and New Zealand and across all brands including OMD, PHD, M2M, Foundation, Dynamo, Rocket, Spark PR & Activate, Fuse, Resolution, Accuen, Annalect and Airwave..
Having led OMD for the last five years, Horgan said he is looking forward to supporting the OMG businesses across ANZ.
A new head
Adshel has a new recruit, in the appointment of Scott Mather to the newly created role of head of operations New Zealand.
Mather joins Adshel from Human Pipeline Systems, a manufacturer and supplier of industrial and residential systems for managing water and utilities, for which his most recent role was national manufacturing manager.
Adshel general manager Nick Vile said: “Scott has a wealth of management experience and expertise in operational excellence, and is perfectly placed to step into this new role, to help identify pressure points and opportunities for Adshel as we continue to invest in new outdoor technology and infrastructure.”
Mather said he is “delighted” to be joining the Adshel.
“As OOH operators evolve to embrace digitisation and meet consumer demands, the need to be agile, strategic and effective has never been greater, and I look forward to working with the Adshel team to focus on driving optimisation and performance for the business.”
QMS Media New Zealand has announced the appointment of Steve Simpson to the role of agency sales director.
The promotion to the newly created role sees Simpson assume responsibilities for the entire sales group within QMS New Zealand. He will report to sales director Matt Williams.
CEO Wayne Chapman said: “It’s great to have the talent to be able to promote from within when business need and merit intersect. Steve has been instrumental to the success of the business over several years, and together with Matt Williams, will lead QMS NZ market facing activity in what promises to be a very exciting time for the company and for the OOH sector.”
Simpson added he was excited to be part of the team.
“There is a lot going on in the out of home sector and I’m looking forward to helping take the QMS proposition to the next level.”
Joining the team
Federated farmers has appointed Leigh Catley to the role of general manager, communications.
Catley joins after working as the head of communications at Horticulture New Zealand for 10 years.
Her background includes editorial management and public relations in New Zealand and Australia, with roles at the New Zealand Press Association, the Australian Associated Press and Radio New Zealand.
Federated Farmers chief executive Graham Smith said it was great to have someone on board with a good understanding of the value of the primary sector to New Zealand.
“Leigh’s time at HortNZ means she comes to Federated Farmers already up to speed on a number of the key issues we deal with every day,” he said. “She’s going to hit the ground running in our organisation and she understands the challenges ahead.”
From journo to PR
Pead PR has a new junior account manager in Ellen Dorset, who will be working across both the agency’s food and lifestyle teams.
Her background lies in magazines, with her most recent role being a writer and sub-editor for New Zealand Woman’s Weekly.
Pead PR group account director Becky Erwood said journalism and PR have always been closely aligned and Pead PR is “delighted to be able to strengthen [its]credentials in this area”.
“Ellen’s keen eye for a story and writing skills will be hugely valuable to her clients,” she said.
