Bettle-Associates and Rural Support Trust’s short film celebrates rural communities
Rural Support Trust’s new short film via Bettle-Associates aims to elevate the role of rural communities in Aotearoa.
The trust provides support services to farmers and growers who are doing it tough across the country.
“We have worked with Rural Support for quite some time to take their level of visibility to the next level and to galvanise their purpose ,” says Bettle–Associates’ Managing Director Will Peart.
“We found that their greatest challenge, and opportunity, is in elevating not just their role, but the role of everyone involved in rural communities. To bring about positive change, there needs to be a fence built at the top of the cliff by farmers and their families, their mates, their contractors, and their neighbours – rather than the Rural Support team being the ambulance at the bottom of it.”
Backbone of the economy
The film launched at the inaugural Rural Support Fieldays opening night event last week, attended by over 500 agri-industry leaders and ministers including Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
It captured the spirit of both celebration and support for hardworking farmers and growers who are, as Luxon put it, “the backbone of our economy, and we are proud of the work they do.”
Primary industry commentator and Farmers Weekly publisher Dean Williamson praised the film and its rural heroes, saying, “This video captures it perfectly – how fortunate we are that hundreds of farmers throughout New Zealand volunteer to support their fellow farmers under the long-proven and trusted framework provided by New Zealand Rural Support Trust. Thank you all.”
