Rainger & Rolfe picks up below-the-line account for BP

BP has added Rainger & Rolfe to its ledger, putting the agency in charge of its retail activation, digital and loyalty business.

This change is, however, limited to the below-the-line account, with Ogilvy remaining in charge of the brand.

“BP is one of New Zealand’s leading brands and we’re excited about the opportunity to help them further develop their creativity, smart-thinking and innovation,” said Rainger & Rolfe managing partner Ant Rainger.

When asked which agencies Rainger & Rolfe pitched against, Rainger said he was precluded from commenting on this.

BP national marketing manager Leigh Taylor says the petrol company has built some strong and enduring local partnerships in its 70 years of operating in New Zealand, and it is looking to build on these.

“We’re proud of our quality offer and our great team, but we know we can’t rest on our laurels, so we’re excited about what’s to come as part of our new partnership with Rainger & Rolfe,” Taylor said.

Among the successful partnerships that BP has built of the years is AA Smartfuel, which also sits on the roster of clients at Rainger & Rolfe. Bringing these two already-collaborative businesses under the same roof could create some interesting opportunities in the loyalty space over the next few years.
