Billy launches an eye-catching campaign via Daylight

Power price comparison tool Billy has unveiled its brand platform and launch campaign in partnership with Daylight.

Billy was launched by the Electricity Authority in late March and exists as alternative to platforms like Consumer NZ’s Powerswitch.

It is a free service that helps New Zealanders compare power plans and providers to see if they’re getting the best deal.

The campaign, titled ‘There’s power in checking’, encourages Kiwis to explore their options and take control of their energy costs.

A trusted second pair of eyes

The core insight that formed Billy’s launch AV is that when faced with a hefty power bill, many people look to their house, rather than their energy plan, for answers.

The vision for Billy is to give people a trusted second set of eyes, the confidence to make informed energy decisions and potentially find a better deal.

Brought to life by Finch and director Lex Hodge, the film features everyday Kiwis who can’t stop seeing their power bills reflected in the appliances they think cost them the most. Shot completely in camera, each of the ‘power bill appliances’ was hand-made, giving the film a beautiful, textual quality.

Save with Billy

Daylight executive creative director Charlie Godinet says: “As a new parent, I see my power bill going round and round in my washing machine every day.

“And whilst I can’t control how much food is spilled down my son’s shirt, I do feel relieved knowing I’m getting the best deal for every wash. A feeling I hope everyone in Aotearoa experiences after giving Billy a go.”

An integrated campaign across out of home, online and social supports the AV, with eyes of all sizes and expressions appearing across the country to bring Billy’s new design to life.

More campaign activity from Billy is set to roll out throughout the year.
