Damien Venuto appointed money editor at Stuff Digital

Stuff Digital has announced award-winning journalist Damien Venuto is joining its team as money editor.

Annoucing the appointment via a post on LinkedIn, Stuff writes it is looking to increase its coverage of financial topics including personal money management, KiwiSaver, mortgages and investments.

These are topics its readers “can’t get enough of,” says the media company.

Venuto has held roles in the media for over a decade, including over four years as a journalist, deputy editor and subsequently editor of StopPress and NZ Marketing magazine. He then spent six years at New Zealand Herald as online business editor, and then as the host of the Front Page podcast, daily round up of key news stories.

For nearly two years, Venuto has been based at One Plus One Communications as a senior account director.

An incredibly important topic

Venuto joins the Stuff Digital team in mid-September to take on his new role as money editor.

Stuff writes it will see him “set the agenda” on money and personal finance, delivering insightful and useful coverage of the stories closest to Kiwis’ wallets.

In his own LinkedIn post marking the appointment, Venuto writes that the money editor position offers an opportunity to shine a light on an incredibly important topic at a time where it has never been more critical.

“For better or worse, so much of our identity, security, wellbeing and happiness is tied to what we can and can’t buy. I’m eager to look at our relationship with the digital numbers that hang so heavy on our bank accounts and better understand the different ways they affect us.”
