Daikin’s last big splash involved a surprisingly creepy Dan Carter hanging on a wall and plenty of come hither eyes. But the agency behind that campaign, The Works Sydney, has now been exchanged for Sugar & Partners, which won a two-way competitive pitch for the New Zealand business.

And Mammoth and Sugar & Partners have decided to hitch their ‘Warmth Lovers’ campaign to that wagon by creating a contextual online ad showing that its spokescat, Prince Nikolai Stroganov III, is already pretty happy inside.

Catvertising has gone mainstream in 2012 and Mammoth Insulation’s rather self-satisfied, warmth-loving feline Prince Nikolai Stroganov III, who made the cut for our TVCs of the Week not long ago, added his name to the list when the campaign was launched back in October. Now Sugar & Partners, which is on a bit of a creative roll after recalibrating recently, has followed up the main 45 second brand spot with three more 15 second spots.

But Flip, which launched a few weeks back as part of the Callplus/Slingshot network, is playing down at the other end of the spectrum, targeting students and casual users with a small 5GB and home line plan for under $50 a month. And it’s ventured to Eastern Europe in an effort to show Kiwis they’re paying too much.
