Getty Images invites Kiwi creatives to ‘make something’

Getty Images has launched a short film competition called ‘Let’s Make Something‘, and it wants Kiwis creatives to get involved.

To demonstrate the power of creativity, great content and an open brief, Getty asked six New Zealand and Australian creative teams to make a short film using Getty footage and one of six themes.

Here’s what Colenso BBDO Auckland, Flying Start Auckland, Foxtel, The Monkeys, King Content and Paper Mosse from Australia came up with:

Now it’s your turn.

This competition is a chance for you to go beyond client briefs and tight budgets. To showcase your storytelling and filmmaking flair.

1. Pick one theme for your film: mind-blowing, dangerous, together, fast, massive or lasting.

2. Then create a 30-second short film using at least five seconds of our selected footage clips available to you for free. Preview them here. The rest should be footage shot specifically for this project, or something you already have (smartphone video is perfectly fine). The storyline is completely up to you.

3. Upload your film here.

The winner will score six month’s of free footage for its favourite not-for-profit and a drone for themselves.

The competition is open to everyone in New Zealand and Australia – you don’t have to be a motion designer or a video editor to take part, you just need to have an idea and bring it to reality.

First prize:

DJI Phantom 3 Advanced Drone for you and six month’s of free footage for your favourite not-for-profit.

People’s choice prize:

GoPro Hero 4.

Share the link to your uploaded film on social with #madewithgettyimages – get your network involved for your chance to get the popular vote.

Best film on each theme:

$150 Amazon card.

Entries close 31 July 2016, see the guidelines here.
