VMO expands retail media network across Aotearoa

VMO has won the exclusive media rights across five retail centres in New Zealand in a competitive tender.

The new locations are part of the Colliers managed portfolio and include Hunters Plaza in Auckland, Papamoa Plaza in Tauranga and Richmond Mall in Nelson. Each centre has a supermarket and a mix of retailers.

VMO now holds exclusive rights across all screen formats at Highbury Mall in Auckland and Barrington Mall in Christchurch – building on the large-format screen rights announced earlier this year.

Acording to Colliers NZ data, there’s more than 18 million shoppers across all of these centres per year.

Connecting with shoppers

“These centres offer an opportunity for brands to connect with engaged shoppers, right across the path to purchase, and we are looking forward to representing an ever-growing VMO retail channel to our clients” says Matt TremainVal Morgan NZ’s sales director.

The rollout of these new screens will commence in July 2025, with the first centre being Hunters Plaza in Auckland.

“Our continued investment reflects the strong demand from advertisers and our commitment to delivering scale across retail media in New Zealand,” says Rob Forsyth, VMO NZ’s commercial director.

“Working with strategic commercial partners like Colliers and their owners to deliver compelling retail media, we look forward to driving continued growth in the space.”

Colliers’ national manager branded partnerships Jane Sargent says: “VMO have provided our owners with compelling offers and product innovation as they develop their retail channel in New Zealand, and we look forward to working with them further to maximise opportunities for our retail owners”.

These five centres will bring the total number of VMO retail centres to over 20 locations.
