TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards finalists announced

The first round of judging at the 2020 TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards is complete, and we are proud to announce the impressive list of Next Level marketing initiatives that make up our finalists.

The full list of finalists can be found here.

Amidst a global pandemic and nationwide Lockdown, NZ Marketing magazine, StopPress and the Marketing Association called upon the country’s marketers to submit their Next Level marketing initiatives to the 2020 TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards. Despite the challenges faced by many over the past few month, marketers from across several industries responded to our call in numbers and have produced some truly exceptional work.

We can now reveal the marketers whose bold moves, strategic plays and integrated thinking landed them coveted spots as 2020 finalists.

Leading the way this year with 11 finalist nominations is Meridian Energy, followed by J. H. Whittaker & Sons with ten nominations and The Warehouse with four. Tourism New Zealand, The Movember Foundation, New Zealand Police, Lotto New Zealand and Kiwibank are other notable finalists with three nominations each.

“In spite of the challenges faced by many marketers who have had their budgets slashed and are operating at reduced capacity in uncertain times, it’s been fantastic to see such a high level of competitive entries this year,” says David Nothling-Demmer, editor of NZ Marketing magazine. “Yes, it’s great that the big names are back again, but what is really encouraging is the level of recognition given to a diverse range of finalists. Having followed some of these marketing initiatives over the past year, it’s safe to say the judges are going to have a hard time narrowing down the finalists and choosing winners.”

The TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards, now in their 29th year, are a celebration of everything that makes marketing great in New Zealand and beyond. It’s the only awards programme in the country which focuses solely on the business benefits of strong marketing strategies.

John Miles, Chief Executive at The Marketing Association says “we were lucky to have Convenor of Judges Michael Friedberg, Chief Growth Officer at MEGA overseeing the judging process again this year.” He said “we have some great entries again in 2020 and these entries really showcase the awesome talent we have in New Zealand and we can’t wait to find out who are the big winners in September”.

This year, the TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards are supported by premiere sponsor TVNZ, and category sponsors NZME and oOh!media, The Radio Bureau, ReachMedia and One Picture.

Tickets are now on sale for the usual sell-out awards evening taking place on Thursday, September 10 at Cordis, Auckland. Bookings can be made online here.
