To celebrate 10 years of playing the greatest music ever made, The Sound teamed up with Universal Music New Zealand to create the ultimate album for music lovers, a limited edition vinyl.
The Sound Collector’s Edition features eight classic tracks from the artists that shaped the soundtrack of the station including Queen, Free, Dragon, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzy, Iggy Pop and The Who.
The Sound Content Director Vaughan Hobbs says: “Most of the music we play on The Sound was originally released on vinyl, so what better way to celebrate our 10th birthday than releasing our very own collector’s edition album on vinyl. It’s been a dream to do this for many years, and we are so grateful to have been able to work with Universal Music New Zealand to make The Sound Collector’s Edition.”
In support of the album’s release, The Sound kicked off a marketing campaign on October 1 which included out-of-home and a TV commercial.
The Sound Marketing Manager Lee Gilmour says: “We were thrilled to develop a campaign that celebrates our listeners’ favourite music and that gives them a physical piece of The Sound to enjoy in their record collection for many years to come.”
The Sound is delighted to announce that as of this morning, all 500 individually numbered copies of The Sound LP were sold out, proving that music lovers – and Sound listeners – still appreciate their music at the speed of 33 and ⅓.
The Sound Collector’s Edition was manufactured in the Czech Republic by GZ Media for Universal Music New Zealand and MediaWorks Ltd.
