Nothing says summer like scraping toxic fire extinguishing chemicals off the lamb. Colenso BBDO’s ad for State Insurance has referenced this great Kiwi tradition with its ‘get insurance fast because things happen fast’ campaign and for their trouble they’ve taken out the December edition of News Works’ Ad of the Month.
Judges Alan Jones (FCB) and Tom Paine (Y&R) said of Colenso BBDO’s effort: “It’s something we are all guilty of. It was a humorous ad that caught our attention with a novel use of the medium.”
Young & Shand’s interactive LifePod ad got an honourable mention. It incorporated a digital element as well as press. And the judges decreed: “It was a great use of the medium with only press being able to accommodate this strategy with the finger print.”
Overall, DDB still leads the Agency League table, which is open to any ad that has appeared on a New Zealand newspaper website or app, or in any print edition. December’s win puts Colenso BBDO on the leader board with five points, and Young & Shand earned one point.
There was no winner or special mentions for January, however.
