RNZ opens new Auckland home

RNZ has marked an milestone with the opening of its new Auckland offices at 100 Victoria Street West.
Minister for media and communications Paul Goldsmith joined staff, board members, project partners and invited guests at a pōwhiri hosted by TVNZ to formally welcome RNZ into its new home.
Dr Jim Mather, RNZ board chair, says the move was a significant achievement for the organisation and reflected the importance of Auckland to RNZ’s future.
“RNZ had outgrown its previous Auckland location on Hobson Street. This investment ensures our people have the facilities, technology and capacity needed to continue delivering independent and trusted public media to New Zealanders.”
Reflects RNZ’s ongoing investment
RNZ chief executive Paul Thompson says the relocation was an important signal about the future of public media in Aotearoa New Zealand.
“This building is much more than a new office. It represents RNZ’s ongoing investment in the future of public media and our commitment to serving audiences wherever they are.
“These new facilities give our teams the tools they need to create outstanding public media content for years to come.”
The offices include additional live production studios, expanded podcast recording capability, enhanced multimedia production facilities and greater opportunities for video production alongside RNZ’s audio services.
Auckland will also provide backup master control capability, strengthening RNZ’s ability to remain on air during emergencies or outages and increasing resilience across the broadcasting network.
