Pair pressure

Online dating sites generally prefer to promote their services using the carrot not the stick. But the Chinese sites Baihe.com’s strategy is to strike fear into the hearts of the dateless by provoking guilt at the heart of a grandmother who just wants to go to a good wedding.

More specifically, she wants her granddaughter to marry before she passes on, putting the pressure on said granddaughter not to take her time picking a guy. It’s a novel approach by Western standards and you have to wonder how much success they get from putting the squeeze on singles.
