Lockdown sees Scroll Media partner publishers soar

Kiwis are turning to local trustworthy news sources as they grapple with lockdown, and Scroll Media partner publishers have reported a big spike in visitors since the Level 4 lockdown rules were implemented.

South Island media giant ODT.co.nz and Canterbury Star have reported a 55 percent jump in traffic, with 634,000 visitors in the last week.

With people having more time to assess their financial situation while working from home, Finance site Interest.co.nz had a 43 percent jump in traffic in the last week with 430,000 views.

Business site Scoop.co.nz has also seen an 11 percent increase in traffic since lockdown.

Scroll Media Managing Director Jane Ormsby says: “Visits to our publisher sites have increased over the last 12 days with people staying at home and turning to their local trusted news sources for information and entertainment.”

Scroll Media manages the branded content, contextual integrated and programmatic advertising opportunities for over 30 publishers in New Zealand. The company recently launched rich new media formats such as interscrollers and skins to give advertisers higher attention rates, and is expanding its integration capability for advertisers across a range of key verticals.
