Foodstuffs’ Steve Bayliss to depart

Foodstuffs group general manager of marketing Steve Bayliss is set to depart the company, StopPress understands.

Bayliss, who has been with the company since 2011, is thought to be leaving end of June. We have contacted Bayliss and Foodstuffs but have yet to get a response. This follows the departure of Jules Lloyd last year, who left to take up a senior marketing role with Mitre 10.

Recent campaigns include New World’s ‘Little Garden’ and ‘Epic Easter-Hunt’.

Meanwhile, Pak’nSave’s Stickman has become a familiar character on our screens and is set to celebrate its 10th birthday soon.

Looking at Foodstuff’s ad spend, it’s been the second highest spender in New Zealand in 2016 and 2017, spending $75.7 million and $76.4 respectively (Nielsen Ad Intel ratecard).

Bayliss’ previous roles include six years as general manager of marketing at Air New Zealand, as well as manager of innovation and category development at The Coca-Cola Company and vice president of marketing and president of new business ventures at Suntory Water Group. It’s not clear where he is going after finishing with Foodstuffs.
