Designworks eyes up Australian market and sets up shop in Melbourne

Design agency Designworks looks to be going from strength to strength. Its Skycouch for Air New Zealand has picked up a finalist nomination at the Australian International Design Awards and, in line with Australian-orientated news, the agency has just announced it will open its first Australian office. With offices already in Auckland and Wellington, the agency last year also expanded to set up shop in Christchurch.

The move to Australia comes as part of a Designworks’ official merger with Melbourne design agency Yello Brands. The new Melbourne office will be the head office for Designwork’s foray into the Australian market, achieving what Designworks Group chief executive Sven Baker describes as “a greater Asia-Pacific presence”.

“The process has been logical and easy and ultimately will put us in a stronger position to facilitate the export aspirations of our Australasian clients,” says Baker.

“Our whole focus is on designing the most successful downunder brands in the world. Melbourne is yet another step in helping us achieve this ambition.”

The new office will be headed up by Stephanie Gasperini who has 25 years of management experience in the design and advertising industries. Gasperini has previously worked for Imagination and, more recently, was chief executive of design agencies Insight Creative and Origin Design. In an earlier incarnation Gasperini worked in the Designworks Wellington office, where she was selected for the Cannes Ideas School.
