Alex Lawson promoted to general manager of Carat as Kim Leybourne heads to Ogilvy

Alex Lawson has been named General Manager of Carat NZ, only a few months after joining the agency in July.

“After an extensive recruitment process to identify the right candidate for the General Manager position, we quickly realised that the best person for the role was already sitting within the business,” says Robert Harvey, the chief executive of the Dentsu Aegis Network in New Zealand Robert Harvey.

“Alex has made an immediate impact since joining us a couple of months ago so it was really easy to make the call to promote him into the GM position.”

Harvey says that Lawson’s appointment is effective immediately.

This move follows on from the departure of former Carat general manager Kim Leybourne, who was appointed the media director at Ogilvy in August.

Leybourne had been with Carat for a period of three years before her departure.

Harvey is yet to announce a replacement for the group business director role, previously occupied by Lawson.
