TMC forms first-ever board to drive regional marketing

The Marketing Club (TMC), Australasia’s fastest-growing community for marketers, has announced its first-ever board – an ambitious lineup of industry leaders set to shape the future of marketing across the region.

Since launching in October 2022, TMC has become a vibrant hub for more than 10,000 members.

It has launched 75+ events and built a buzzing Slack community and news newsletter network.

Its inaugural board now brings together an exceptional group of thinkers, doers and changemakers. They each have a distinct voice, but are united by a passion for elevating marketing across Australasia

Meet the team

The five new board members are Chanel Clark, Cassie Roma, Fiona (Fee) Cortis, Susie Thomson-Evans and Oliver Sweeney.

They will lead TMC into its next phase, with a strong focus on New Zealand.

Their goal is to drive the strategy, champion the community and support marketers at every stage of their journey.

Leading the board is Clark, the founder and chair of The Marketing Club. Clark specialises in growth strategy and community-building. She’s the visionary behind TMC’s 10,000-strong membership.

Her experience with brands such as Ārepa, Roam Digital and Backchat Media has also shaped her mission to create a more connected and empowered marketing landscape.

Joining her is Roma, a powerhouse in storytelling and creative leadership.

With 20+ years in advertising, media and entertainment, Roma’s influence spans both screen and strategy.

She’s appeared on The Apprentice Aotearoa and Celebrity Treasure Island, and is now turning her talents to directing her first documentary.

Through her podcasts including Kindness Warriors, Roma continues to redefine what impactful marketing looks and sounds like.

Cortis, head of marketing at BLUNT Umbrellas, adds a sharp strategic edge to the board.

She led BLUNT’s celebrated 2023 rebrand, positioning the brand for international growth while staying true to its Kiwi roots.

With award nods and standout creative under her belt, Cortis specialises in pairing customer insight with bold innovation.

Representing the PR and communications frontline is Thomson-Evans, GM of CHPR and co-founder of the service at Clear Hayes Consulting.

Under her leadership, CHPR has supported 20+ marketing-focused clients with savvy, subscription-based PR that’s reshaping the traditional agency model.

Rounding out the board is Sweeney, senior associate at Cowan Law.

Sweeney’s legal expertise spans commercial, property, asset planning and dispute resolution.

He also brings sharp legal acumen and client-centric advice. His ability to simplify the complex adds value to both the board and the broader TMC community.

TMC’s new frontier

Clark says: “TMC was born out of a desire to create a safe space where marketers could connect, learn and grow. From coming up in my career and feeling lost more often than not, I wanted to build the thing that I wish had existed for me.”

“Appointing our first board is such an exciting moment,” Clark adds.

“It sets us up with a fresh vision and the right people to take this organisation to the next stage.

“From thinking it was going to be a coffee meet up for 30 marketers, to now a community of 10,000 in under three years. We’re looking towards what the next phase of growth looks like. And we’re ready to build something even bigger and more impactful for marketers across the country!”

With upcoming events featuring TikTok, Ziel and Adobe, TMC aims to offer fresh thinking, meaningful connections and real value for its growing community.

This board announcement reflects TMC’s key role in the marketing industry across Australasia.
