The Spinoff welcomes Glen Kyne to its board

The Spinoff is thrilled to announce the appointment of Glen Kyne to its board.

As the former Senior Vice President and Head of Network at Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) for Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, Kyne brings an unparalleled wealth of experience from the media industry.

With a distinguished career that includes senior leadership roles such as Senior VP and GM at Discovery ANZ and Chief Commercial Officer at MediaWorks NZ, Kyne’s expertise will be instrumental in shaping The Spinoff’s future as it continues to thrive as an independent media platform.

Kyne’s deep understanding of the media landscape, coupled with his operational leadership and experience managing industry disruption, will be vital in supporting The Spinoff’s mission to produce high-quality journalism that resonates deeply with its audiences – including innovative commercial partnerships.

Says Amber Easby, The Spinoff CEO: “We are beyond excited to welcome Glen to The Spinoff board. Having just celebrated our 10th birthday, Glen is joining us at the perfect time. His knowledge and insights will be invaluable as we enter into this next chapter of our business.”

Kyne adds, “It’s definitely been a difficult period for the media sector, but for challenger brands like The Spinoff there is also opportunity. The Spinoff has built an incredible reputation for its journalism, creativity, and innovative approach. I’m looking forward to contributing to its future success, especially as it continues to push boundaries in media and storytelling.

“When I was approached to join I couldn’t have been more excited. I’ve spent so long working in, and loving, the work of news media. Providing governance to a superb team is definitely a fantastic next step for me, and I hope I can channel that enthusiasm as well as all my experience in a way that really benefits this great company.”

Elisa Rivera, The Spinoff’s Head of Commercial, says, “We are keen to work alongside Glen, as his extensive experience and creative approach will be crucial in exploring new commercial opportunities and strengthening our partnerships, ensuring that we continue to deliver deeply engaging content to our audience.”
