Movings/Shakings: 23 April

Swapping places

L-R: Jame Tame and John Campbell

Jack Tame has announced he is the new host of Q+A and will be leaving the Breakfast team.

John Campbell will be taking over from Tame, effective on April 29th. Campbell will also continue to contribute his storytelling across TVNZ’s news and current affairs offering.

Tame says joining Q+A in the lead up to an election year is “an unmissable opportunity for me. I’ve loved questioning our country’s decision-makers on Breakfast.”

“Hosting Q+A will give me a chance to take that examination further – and never is it more important to ask the hard questions than when a vote is on the horizon. I’m really sad to be leaving the Breakfast whānau, the members of which do fantastic work in exhausting circumstances.”

A familiar face

Dish magazine has a new editor at its helm, with Sarah Tuck joining the team.

Tuck is no stranger to the title, having created recipes for Dish for five years alongside writing for other food titles and her own blog ‘Stuck In the Kitchen’.

She’s also published her own cook book, Coming Unstuck.

David Atkins, managing director of ICG, says he’s excited to welcome Sarah to the team.

“With her years of experience and existing relationship with Dish, I know she’ll be a great asset.”

Tuck adds, “Dish is such a beautiful publication, with a wonderfully talented and dedicated team. I can’t wait to join them.”

A trio of appointments

L-R: Richard Gordon, Tim Marshall and Jessica Morris

Richard Gordon, Tim Marshall and Jessica Morris have joined PR consultancy Wright Communications.

Gordon has been appointed group account director and member of the senior leadership team. Gordon is responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputations of several key clients using proactive sustainability communications, PR planning and issues management.

From crafting sustainability reports, developing two-way stakeholder relationships and leveraging good deeds through to risk management and crisis preparedness, Gordon is well placed to provide wrap-around services to enhance corporate reputations.

Marshall has been appointed senior account director. Marshall is a life member of the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand, chief examiner of the Accreditation in Public Relations and has more than 30 years’ experience providing strategic communications advice.

Wright Communications managing director Nikki Wright says sustainability isn’t just a practice, “it defines the agency’s reason for being”.

“Our team get out of bed every day and choose to work here so they can contribute to some of the most interesting, and often complex, communications challenges happening in the country at any given time. Using a Corporate Social Responsibility lens underpins our approach to clients and informs our business ethos.”

“Something else we’re all super proud of is the role we play for the non-profit sector.  We are currently telling stories that raise money towards drowning prevention at Auckland beaches, domestic violence regulation in workplaces, reducing the gender pay gap, protecting vulnerable children and eco-labelling to prevent greenwash. It’s motivating stuff,” she says.

Wright Communications has also attracted consumer PR account executive Jessica Morris and intern Hinemoana Douglas to the team.
