NZME has appointed Cliff Joiner to the newly created role of general manager of communications.

Joiner, a former journalist, will leave his role as external relations manager at Bank of New Zealand to join NZME.

NZME chief executive Michael Boggs says Joiner’s journalistic background and his communications experience make this an ideal appointment to assist with its growth strategy across print, radio and digital initiatives.

Joiner will be with NZME from 29 April.

Moving up

Dallas Rabot, Alfonso Mannella

Pure SEO has a new SEO and content manager for its New Zealand operations in Alfonso Mannella.

Mannella has a decade of digital experience and most recently was working at YoungShand.

The appointment follows the promotion fo Dallas Rabot to the role of head of product.

Sporting a new role

Melodie Robinson has been appointed TVNZ’s new general manager of sports and events.

In the role, Robinson will lead the sport and event strategy for TVNZ’s coverage of global sporting events such as Rugby World Cup 2019, Paralympic Games 2020 and America’s Cup 2021.

TVNZ director of content Cate Slater says Robinson brings incredible depth and breadth to this key leadership role in the content team.

Taking the lead

Maria Bajalica has bee appointed to the role of sales manager for the New Zealand market.

Bajalica’s goal is to deliver business revenue from new and existing clients. She will report directly to Peter Birch, the commercial director of APAC at Kargo.

Bajalica joins Kargo with more than 10 years of experience working in digital media in New Zealand, most recently serving as direct sales manager for NZME. While with the broadcast media company, she achieved revenue and performance targets across all key metro markets.
