Discovery NZ welcomes six new hires

Discovery NZ has made half a dozen key hires to its commercial division, among which is Jas Gierlinski, who has been appointed General Manager – Agency. 

Responsible for TV and digital revenues, Gierlinski joins Discovery NZ after seven successful years as PHD’s Group Business Director where he worked with a number of significant local brands. 

Gierlinski says: “I’m thrilled to begin a new chapter with Discovery NZ and add to the experience of an already high-achieving team. Discovery NZ is already having a big impact on the media landscape and I’m excited to contribute to that.”

Discovery NZ has also appointed the following roles:

Dan Roberts, Agency Group Account Director. Roberts joined Discovery NZ in January, working across a large agency portfolio. He recently returned to New Zealand after five years in London, most recently as AV Director at Dentsu, and also worked at FCB NZ prior to going overseas.

Nick Marquet, Account Manager – Direct. Marquet joins the newly formed Discovery NZ Direct sales team bringing extensive experience in media sales, having worked in the UK, Australia and New Zealand for multiple major media companies.

Sarah McPhail, Account Director – Agency. McPhail joins Discovery NZ next week. She has vast experience in TV sales, having previously worked at Sky TV and TVNZ.

Nadia Murrell and Sarah McDonald have also recently started their media careers, joining in January as Sales Coordinators.

Donna Gurney, Discovery NZ Head of Sales, says: “To welcome so much incredible talent into our business at one time has given us a huge shot of energy to kick start the year, particularly as we commence such an exciting phase of our business journey. 

“We are already making great gains as Discovery NZ and this expansion of our team further strengthens our market proposition.”
