Host of cliches used to draw attention to TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards

Now in their twentieth year, and following on from a record number of entries last year, the awards continue to recognise excellence in the business of marketing. TVNZ once again heads the list of sponsors, including new additions Pacific Micromarketing (Marketer of the Year) and BrandWorld (Fast Moving Consumer Goods Marketing).

Also new for 2011 is the Public Sector Marketing Award, an award open solely to government departments and state-owned enterprise where profit is not necessarily the main measure of success.

The Export Marketing Award is also back for its second year and, with the added expertise of award sponsor, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, the requirements have been refined to further highlight its international marketing focus.

The Judges’ Choice Awards (Innovation in Marketing, Most Authentic Brand, Sustainability, and Transformational Marketing) are now open to all category award entrants, as opposed to exclusively to finalists. And a change that is significant to all consumer marketing entrants involves the merging of the Consumer Durables and Consumer Services categories to create a holistic and aptly named category, the Consumer Marketing Award.

With ​​Survivor New Zealand set to hit screens on 7 May, TVNZ has released another round of its campaign with a colourful, energetic video via TVNZ Blacksand, as well as unveiling the contestants. We chat to executive creative director Jens Hertzum about giving the local format a contemporary and fun feel.
