When spuds go social

If you thought alphabet soup and animal crackers were the height of food weirdness, wait until you hear about Mashtags, the soon to be released potato snacks that bring social media icons to the humble tuber.

The product, to be launched in March, will see quality British spuds transformed into @ symbols, smiley emoticons and hashtags.

A Birdseye senior brand manager says Mashtags are all about innovation and inspiring consumers, getting people talking around the dinner table.

Instead of talking about Mashtags, diners could be tempted to use alphabet noodles and mashtags to construct their next tweet on the dinner table before posting it.
