What’s in a name? Plenty, says new naming consultancy

As Interbrand’s Tom Warden recently wrote, whether you go for a descriptive or associative brand name, choosing a name for your business is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. And The Namery, which claims to be Auckland’s first specialist naming consultancy, wants to help you with the process.

Founder Sarah Walter, an ad creative who’s done stints at The Pond, DDB and JWT, says it fills the gap for a dedicated writer-based naming service.

“There are so many entrepreneurial Kiwis out there designing some ingenious new products and services. We’re here to help them get their brilliant new idea off the ground with an smart, succinct and importantly, available brand name.”

The Namery offers a range of options for startups and small businesses, as well as a full strategic naming service for more complex projects.

“We’ve got some talented writers on board who love naming (a very rare breed),” she says. “And because we’re a bunch of fanatical wordsmiths, we can also create the brand’s distinctive story across both traditional and social media.”
